Talks:

– Monorepos for High Impact Software Teams (Jeff Cross)

Top software companies like Google and Facebook spend a lot of time and energy figuring out how to maximize the impact of their development teams. The cornerstone of the level of collaboration at these companies is that they organize the code for all applications in the same repository, a monorepo. In this talk, Jeff Cross of Nrwl will define what a monorepo is and how monorepo-style development can change the way teams of all shapes and sizes develop software.

Jeff Cross is co-founder of Nrwl. Prior to founding Nrwl in 2016 with Victor Savkin, Jeff Cross was on the Angular Core Team at Google for 4 years, and was Tech Lead of the Angular Mobile Team.

– On how microfrontends and monorepos can liberate your team (Victor Savkin)

Every team wants to develop and deploy independently from other teams, even when working on the same application. The microfrontend architecture is a way to do it, but it comes with its own challenges. How do you coordinate your work? How do you do cross-app refactorings? How do you manage versions? Companies like Google, Facebook, and Microsoft have figured it out: you use a monorepo.
In this talk, Victor Savkin will show how to use Nx–extensible tools for monorepos–to set up a dev environment, where multiple teams can build a portal application out of microfrontends, without having any problems with refactorings or versioning.

Victor Savkin is co-founder of Nrwl. Prior to founding Nrwl in 2016 with Jeff Cross, Victor Savkin was on the Angular Core Team at Google where he worked on many core parts of the frameworks, such as dependency injection, change detection, router, and forms

– Elementary, my dear Angular (James Henry)

With all the buzz around Ivy, you would be forgiven for having missed one of the most important innovations in the Angular ecosystem: Angular Elements. By supporting compiling to native Custom Elements as a first-class use-case, the Angular Team has unlocked a huge amount of power for us when it comes to: cross-framework features, AngularJS-Angular upgrades, reusable widgets and more. In this talk, James Henry of Nrwl will walk you through the true power of Angular Elements, beyond the basics.

James is an Architect at Nrwl and loves helping other developers do their best work! He’s a Microsoft MVP for TypeScript and has worked on TypeScript support in ESLint, Babel and Prettier.
