The FOSS Backstage 2020 conference is a two-day event focused on the non-technical aspects of open source communities which contribute to its success such as good community governance, quality communication, etc. Conference topics include open source project leadership best practices, community management, open source project metrics, open source strategy for enterprise, adopting open source collaboration in corporations, and legal matters when dealing with open source.

The conference will take place in the city of Berlin, on the 6th and 7th of March.

The FOSS Backstage 2020 conference is a two-day event organised by the company Plain Schwarz to discuss the non-technical aspects of open source communities. How to ensure the good functioning of an open source community? Speakers and participants to the FOSS Backstage 2020 will try to answer that question by discussing leadership best practices, open source project metrics and the factors allowing the good governance of open source communities.

Registration for the event is available online, charges apply.

Programme

The programme, available online, cover topics such as open source project leadership best practices, community management, open source project metrics, open source strategy for enterprise, adopting open source collaboration in corporations, and legal matters when dealing with open source. The conference will host high level speakers:

FOSS Backstage will be preceded by the one-day Community Backstage conference which focuses on how to successfully build, maintain and design productive communities.

Team

The conference is organised by Plain Schwarz, a company specialised in the organisations of conferences and events for open source communities. The organising committee is also composed of Isabel Drost-Fromm (Open Source Strategist at Europace AG, Member and former Director of the Apache Software Foundation, founder and PMC member of Apache Mahout) and Stefan Rudnitzki (Team Lead of the agile coach team at Testo, co-organiser of MongoDB usergroup Berlin and Async Cat Herding meetup Berlin).
