The 17th International Symposium on Open Collaboration (OpenSym 2021) is a three-day hybrid conference that will take place online and physically in Madrid between 15 and 17 September 2021. The conference will be centered around various aspects of open collaboration, research and practice, including open source, open data, open science, open education, the use of wikis and related social media, as well as IT-driven open innovation research.

OpenSym 2021

Launched in 2005, OpenSym is an annual conference held by the OpenSym community, which mainly comprises academics. The purpose of this event is to bring together different stakeholders involved in open collaboration research and practice, seeking to create synergies and inspire new collaborations between participants working in computer science, information science, social science and humanities.

OpenSym 2021 will be a hybrid event, taking place online and physically in Madrid. All activities will be streamed online. Research and community presentations and workshops will be accompanied by keynotes, presentations from invited speakers and social activities.

Although the complete programme is not yet available, the list of topics includes:

• Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS)
• Wikipedia and Wikimedia Research
• Open Collaboration Research, esp. Wikis and Social Media
• Open Data and Open Science
• Open Education
• Open Innovation
• Open Policy/Open Government
• Open Standards
