We are very pleased to announce that David Blakesley has agreed to give a keynote presentation: “The residual concepts of production vs. the emergent cultures of distribution in publishing”. David is the Campbell Chair in Technical Communication and Professor of English at Clemson University, as well as the CEO of Parlor Press.

We are equally happy that Carlos Evia of Virginia Tech has also agreed to give a keynote address: “The future of technical documentation starts with its recent past”. Carlos’s research focus area includes technical communication, user assistance, and structured authoring. He is a professor in the School of Communication at Virginia Tech, and also associate dean for transdisciplinary initiatives and chief technology officer in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.

We are again equally pleased that Peter K.G. Williams has also agreed to give a keynote address: “The Tectonic Project: Envisioning a 21st-century TeX experience”. Peter is the Innovation Scientist of the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian and the American Astronomical Society (AAS), where he works with the group that publishes the Astrophysical Journal (ApJ) and other major astronomy journals. He is also Director of the AAS WorldWide Telescope project and a moderator in the astro-ph section of ArXiv.org.

The conference will be held online via Zoom. Thanks to the University of Adelaide, Australia, for making this possible.

We envision with talks of approximately 30-40 minutes, time for q&a, and several breaks throughout the days. Given the global nature of an online conference, the talks will be extended throughout each day, according to the speakers’ locations, rather than focused on one timezone. We expect that talks will be recorded and available for viewing afterwards.

As always, the success of the conference depends on speakers coming forward. Please email the conference committee with proposals and abstracts. Call for papers.

We request that all participants and speakers register for the conference. It is free of charge, though donations are most welcome to help defray expenses and to support TeX and TUG.
