The topic of this webinar is the contractual terms of data sharing licenses for APIs. Our two speakers specialise in the legal aspects of IT, data, and APIs. They are:

– Hans Graux: IT Lawyer and founding partner of Timelex, with an an expertise in the field of information and technology law.

– Zenzi de Graeve: Attorney in technology, data protection and intellectual property, media and law at Timelex.

The webinar will explain key legal questions to be addressed when making data available via an API, or when using data from an API. How does an API change the contractual requirements? What does data ownership really mean? And what are the ‘red flags’ in terms and conditions that warrant a bit more attention? This webinar will show you the most contentious legal points, and also provides a preview of the tools that the Support Centre will be making available to untie some of the legal knots.

The Support Centre for Data Sharing (SCDS) initiative focuses specifically on researching, documenting, and reporting about the data sharing practices, EU legal frameworks, and access and distribution technology that are relevant to organisations, and that imply novel models, and legal or technological challenges. We will do that in the awareness of the entirety of the data sharing space, but without developing its full spectrum.
