The Big Data Test Infrastructure (BDTI) team is again heading to the OASC Conference on January 16. Building on the success of our previous attendance, we are excited to reconnect with the Open & Agile Smart Cities (OASC) community and showcase the latest advancements in our open-source infrastructure.

Last year, the BDTI team made some valuable connections at the OASC Summit, and this year, we’re returning with even more enthusiasm, innovation, and collaborative spirit.

For those unfamiliar with our project, the Big Data Test Infrastructure is a ground-breaking initiative by the European Commission aimed at empowering European public administrations with the tools and capabilities they need to harness the power of data (big and small) to improve the lives of citizens. Providing a sandbox to a robust, standardised infrastructure for free for six months enables administrations to experiment, innovate, and optimise their services efficiently.

What is the Open & Agile Smart Cities (OASC) Summit? 

OASC is an international network of cities that collaborates with municipalities around the world to embark on the transformative path of digitisation. OASC enables cities by providing a minimal technological foundation for their digital tools and processes, with a focus on long-term effect. The network facilitates frictionless sharing and reusability of data-driven solutions by leveraging open standards and APIs (application programming interfaces), removing vendor lock-in, lowering innovation costs, and improving overall efficiency.

The OASC Conference is the perfect stage for us to share our progress and engage in meaningful discussions with key stakeholders, city leaders, and industry experts. We’ll be highlighting the following key aspects of the BDTI project:

1. Data-informed public sector: We’ll showcase how BDTI promotes seamless data exchange among various urban systems, ensuring that smart city solutions work together cohesively.
2. Scalability: Learn how our infrastructure can be scaled after the six-month testing period to meet the unique needs of cities of all sizes, making it a versatile testbed for urban transformation.
3. Success Stories: We’ll share inspiring success stories from cities that have harnessed the BDTI infrastructure to enhance their services and improve the quality of life for their citizens.
