Let the data run, not the people – this is the goal of the once-only principle (OOP). It means that citizens and businesses provide basic data only once to a public authority, while public administration bodies take actions to internally share and reuse these data – even across borders – always in respect of data protection regulations and other constraints.

The conference on the once-only principle for citizens and businesses is a joint event of the two EU funded projects SCOOP4C and TOOP. Both projects investigate the implementation of the OOP in Europe on a cross-border level. While SCOOP4C is analysing how the OOP can be implemented in public services for citizens, TOOP will pilot OOP implementations for businesses.

The joint event aims at creating awareness about the importance of the OOP for administrative burden reduction. It will demonstrate the findings of SCOOP4C and TOOP over the first year and showcase cross-border OOP solutions for citizens and businesses. In subsequent group discussions, participants and speakers will investigate how the presented cross-border OOP solutions can be spread across Europe to implement the once-only principle, and what drivers, enablers but also barriers they had or still have to face to exploit the full potentials of OOP in dedicated domains.

At 7 pm, there will be a joint dinner with members of the National E-Governance Competence Center (NEGZ). This as also a good opportunity to discuss the future of European E-Government together. Participants of the once-only-conference are also very welcome to participate at NEGZ conference taking place at Bundespressehaus at 29th November 2017.
