Copernicus Data at the Service of the EU Arctic Policy
organised by Mercator Ocean, held at the European Parliament in Brussels on 7 December

It will represent a unique opportunity to learn about the current and future potential of Earth Observation technology in supporting the key priorities of the EU Arctic Policy

To address the challenges and opportunities presented by the Arctic, the European Union has put forward a dedicated Arctic Policy which outlines the key priorities in the region: combating climate change, preserving the Arctic environment, promoting sustainable development and fostering international cooperation. In October 2021, an updated version of the EU Arctic Policy was published, aligning with the goals of the European Green Deal and emphasising the EU’s commitment to supporting research in the Arctic.

The event will feature keynote addresses, with the opportunity for the guests to network with other participants and enjoy a light lunch and refreshments.

The invited speakers include Members of the European Parliament, European Commission officials and Member States representatives engaged in Arctic policy or the management and coordination of the Copernicus Programme. Such a heterogeneous line-up will provide unique perspectives on the current and future Copernicus products and new ways to access the data.
