Real-time audio processing – Elias Kokkinis, CTO at Accusonus
Audio systems are hard real-time systems. Novel technologies for audio signal processing require heavy computations to extract information from the signal and process it. There is an important optimisation process for every complex audio processing algorithm that begins from implementing the standard practices and ends on low level analysis of data locality or beyond. We will present the fundamentals of real-time audio processing as well as some cases from our own adventures in optimisation land.
About the speaker
Elias Kokkinis is the co-founder and CTO of Accusonus. He holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering and a PhD in audio signal processing from the University of Patras. He is the co-inventor of 6 US patents on signal processing. As the CTO of Accusonus he has led the research efforts of the R&D team that produced the novel technologies powering the company’s successful products. He has several years of experience as a sound engineer in recording studios and concert halls. He was also a drummer active in the local music scene of Patras.
