Interoperability is a key enabler for seamless exchange of data and building user-centric public services. During the “Interoperability: an enabler for breaking cross-border barriers” session, that will be part of the European Week of Regions and Cities, the new Interoperable Europe policy will be introduced. This policy aims to help all administrations create better public services for citizens and businesses that also work across borders. Participants are invited to discuss the key features of the Interoperable Europe Act and their impact on local and regional policymakers.

Interoperable Europe will join the 21st European Week of Regions and Cities with a special session on the significance of the Interoperable Europe policy for public administrations. The registration is already open and interested professionals can book their seat for this or other sessions during the four-day event.

The European Week of Regions and Cities is organised by the Committee of the Regions of the European Union to demonstrate the importance of the local and regional level for good European governance. During the event, cities and regions showcase their potential to create growth and jobs, and in implementing the European Union cohesion policy.

Interoperable Europe is organising a session on the topic of “Interoperability: An enabler for breaking cross-border barriers” which will take place on the 11th of October from 4:30 to 6.00 PM in the SQUARE Meeting Centre in Brussels.

By participating in it (in person), the audience will discover how the new Interoperable Europe policy helps all administrations to create better and more connected public services for citizens and businesses. It invites participants to discuss the key features of the Interoperable Europe Act and their impact on local and regional policymakers.

The session will be moderated by Andrea Halmos, Deputy Head of Unit of the Interoperable Europe Unit in DG DIGIT.

  • Marc Pattinson, Expert, Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform
  • Ville Sirviö, CEO, Nordic Institute for Interoperability Solutions (NIIS)
  • Michele Pais, President and Member of the Regional Council of Sardinia, European Committee of the Regions Rapporteur for an Opinion on the Interoperable Europe Act (European Conservatives and Reformists Group, (ECR)).
