1st talk: Introduction to Kairos – The CNCF immutable special purpose OS

Abstract: Kairos is the open-source project that simplifies Kubernetes deployments and OS lifecycle management on Edge, cloud, and bare metal. This presentation is a high level overview of the project’s main features, like immutability, encryption and day-2 operations but also an opportunity for further discussion and questions.

Presenter: Dimitris Karakasilis is a software developer, deeply passionate about open source. His last 6 years mainly focused on Kubernetes related projects. Currently working for Spectro Cloud as an “Open Source Principal Software Engineer”.

2nd talk: Exploring custom worker node deployments via automotive industry standards.

Abstract: Customizing containerized workloads to meet specific requirements may not always be feasible, particularly when underlying system changes are necessary. Additionally, the public cloud kernel offerings utilized in managed kubernetes services, pose further challenges to achieve the overall customization goal. In this presentation, we will delve into techniques for overcoming potential kubernetes worker node customization obstacles, looking through the prism of automotive industry standards imposed limitations.

Presenter: Dimitris Soukaras is a DevOps Chapter leader at Morotech, with 11 years of professional experience in the IT industry.
He has worked in cloud engineering roles for 5 years in notable cloud vendor companies including Oracle and Citrix.
