Are you looking for more in-depth discussions about SEMIC related topics about AI? Then the SEMIC Pre-Conference Workshops in Madrid on the 17th of October – one day before the main SEMIC2023-Conference – are definitely worth participating in!

Like the SEMIC main conference, the pre-conference workshops revolve around the connections and cross-fertilizing potential between Artificial Intelligence and Interoperability.

There are three SEMIC Pre-Conference Workshops participants can choose from, with each of them having a specific topic.

1. Large Language Models in support of Interoperability: a workshop dedicated to the current and proposed approaches for the use of large language models (LLMs)  and AI technology in the context of semantic interoperability. The presentations will focus on applications that support semantic interoperability, such as the state-of-the-art LLMs and their application to semantic clustering, data discovery and the expansion of terminology.
2. EU wide registry of public sector semantic model: a workshop that aims to offer actionable steps towards establishing an entry point for connecting national collections of semantic assets via an EU wide registry. It provides an ideal opportunity to gain insights into existing modelling work from Member States, the costs of not having an EU wide registry, and the support that such a registry offers to cross-border public services in a single market.
   Additionally, the workshop will explore the value of the registry in preserving and transferring institutional know-how amid the constant reconfigurations of teams working in public bodies. Lastly, it will address the significance of the registry for AI-powered solutions in designing new semantic specifications while rationalizing existing models.
3. AI in digital-ready policy design and legal drafting: a workshop that will explore how tools powered by AI technologies can support policymakers in their digital-ready policy journey. The workshop will highlight potential tools and features, such as the Policy Screening Prototype (SeTA) and smart functionalities for legal drafting (LEOS).

All professionals – including specialists from the public sector, academia, industry – and participants from diverse backgrounds who have a keen interest in engaging in in-depth discussions on one of these specific topics, are warmly invited to join.

The workshops will be organized on the afternoon of the 17th of October, from 14:30 to approximately 18:30. Participation can be either physical or online. During the registration process for SEMIC 2023, you have the opportunity to indicate your interest in participating in one of the workshops.
