As emphasised by studies such as the State of the Ocean Pilot Report, published by UNESCO in 2022, quantitative data is of the utmost importance to support sustainable development and for the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Sustainable development is a core principle of the Treaty on European Union and the European Commission is committed to the 2030 SDGs. The Copernicus services and data sources play a vital role in establishing benchmarks and increasing the capacity to report changes in the environment.
During the webinar you will be hearing from the following experts, who will showcase multiple use cases of Copernicus for supporting sustainable development:
- Ana Maria Ribeiro de Sousa, European Environment Agency
- Tina Silovic, Mercator Ocean
- Michele Melchiorri, Joint Research Centre
