Introduction to Data Anonymisation & Linked Data

Cost: €80

Duration: 2 days, 2 hours per day, 10:00-12:00

This training is for those who would like to gain more practical knowledge about anonymising and publishing open data safely, as well as an introduction to Linked Data the 5* standard for open data.

Data Anonymisation

Data Anonymisation enables data to be published without breaching data protection principles through de-personalisation and aggregation. The course will cover:

  • Principles and techniques of anonymisation
  • How open data works with GDPR
  • Sample exercises
  • Questions – Managed Q&A session

Linked Data

Linked Data is structured data which is interlinked with other data, so it becomes more useful. This introduction course provides recommended best practice for exposing, sharing and connecting pieces of data.

  • Learn one way to make Linked Open Data
  • Understand how the data communicates
  • Evaluate the cost and benefits of Linked Open Data
  • Questions – Managed Q&A session

 

Courses are for all Public Service employees and groups of employees (for full organisation eligibility, please see below).

Eligibility:

The following public service bodies are eligible to access this training Framework:

  • Ministers of the Government of Ireland, Central Government Departments, Offices and non-commercial Agencies and Organisations which have a formal reporting and legal relationship to Central Government Departments, including all local authorities in Ireland (themselves including regional assemblies, local enterprise boards and library bodies)
  • Contracting authorities in the Irish health sector including but not limited to the Health Service Executive (HSE); the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) and HSE funded Agencies delivering health & personal social services funded by more than 50% from Exchequer funds
  • Contracting authorities which are Third Level Educational Institutions (including universities, institutes of technology and members of the Education Procurement Service)
  • Contracting authorities which are Education and Training Boards (ETBs) and ETB schools, and primary, post-primary, special and secondary schools as well as ETBs acting on behalf of schools
  • An Garda Síochána
  • The Irish Prison Service
  • The Defence Forces
