Between 26-27 February, the Digital Society (Digitalen Gesellschaft) will be hosting their fourth annual Winter Congress, an event targeted at activists, programmers, hackers and other people interested in IT technologies and their impact on society. In light of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the event will take place online.
The Winter Congress (Winterkongress)
Digitale Gesellschaft is a non-profit organisation advocating for citizen and consumer protection int eht digital age and protecting fundamental rights in a digitally networked world. They inform and advise individuals and institutions on consumer and legal issues in the digital realm. The organisation also assesses the impact of technology with regard to the possible effects on fundamental and human rights and offers services, software projects and workshops on digital self-defence. This year, they are hosting their fourth annual Winter Congress, featuring 27 presentations and workshops and a series of tracks in parallel. Some of the topics that will be addressed include
- Open source activism
- Success/failure cases on the use of open source in public administrations
- Online participatory democracy platforms built on open source
- And much more!
The event will be hosted entirely in German. will be given on a wide range of topics across the four-day event, including cybersecurity, geolocation software and Artificial Intelligence, among others.
Online registration is compulsory and there is a fee of CHF 20 for non-members of the organisation, and CHF 10 for members.
