On 17 March 2021, the Association of the Software, Information and Communication Industry in Berlin and Brandenburg will be hosting an event on the use of Open Source in the Public Sector. The event, delivered in German, will feature four presentations and a panel discussion with industry experts. In light of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the event will take place online.
Open Source in the Public Sector
The Association of the Software, Information and Communication Industry in Berlin and Brandenburg (SIBB) is a German digital business association that host a range of events focussed on digital technologies, including open source software, cloud technologies, and more. Following the publication of the European Commission’s Open Source Strategy and the increase focus being given to open source solutions in Germany, SIBB has organised an event on the use of open source in the public sector.
Based on the motto “Public Money, Public Code”, the event will focus on the possibilities and limitations of the use of open source digital platforms and technologies in the public sector. The event will feature the following four presentations:
- Open source as part of corporate strategy
- Digital sovereignty: perspectives and opportunities with open source products
- The role of open source in OZG implementation
- Open source software options for management: How public administrations benefit from alternatives to proprietary software
The presentations will be followed by a moderated panel discussion featuring recognised industry experts and the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions.
The event will be hosted entirely in German.
Online registration is compulsory and free of charge.
