Established under  the Interoperable Europe Act, the Interoperable Europe Community is set to play a central role in advancing  interoperability amongst public administrations across Europe.

Its first Annual Assembly, taking place online on 13 November 2025, will mark a milestone in the implementation of the Act adopted on 11 April 2024. The event will bring together experts, practitioners and interested parties from all over the EU to review the progress made in promoting cross-border digital cooperation.

Leontina Sandu, Head of the Interoperability and Digital Government Unit at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Informatics (DG DIGIT), will open the Assembly with a keynote address.

The Interoperable Europe Community brings together and expands existing communities hosted on the Interoperable Europe Portal, aiming to create a unified framework for collaboration and knowledge exchange on interoperability in the public sector that will have a say in the future of interoperability-related matters.

The Community is open to all interested parties in cross-border interoperability. You are welcome to join citizens with the most diverse backgrounds across the public sector, academia, businesses, research and innovation professionals, and more.

The purpose of the Community is equally multidimensional. It advises the Interoperable Europe Board on decisions concerning interoperability and public sector innovation, it identifies current and future needs within the Community, it supports best practice exchanges, and it helps identify and implement reusable solutions.

Since the online space of the Community was officially launched on the Interoperable Europe Portal, it has attracted more than 2,000 online visitors from 70 countries.
