A three days community gathering to get to know the world of open data and open knowledge, meet people who are passionate about them, share experiences and protype stuff.

An opportunity to “check in” on the state of open data. In Sicily: a corner of Europe that enjoys the benefits of a vibrant open data community, but suffers from several structural governance problems.

If you care about open data; if you feel you are, at least a little bit, a civic hacker, this is the right space for you, whoever you are and whatever your skills (or lack of them). Absolutely everyone who is interested in open data and open culture is most warmly welcome.

We will be talking and hacking about:

• how to be transparent;
• open government data;
• sharing and reusing open data;
• open data as support to understanding reality and making decisions;
• doing business with open data;
• societal impacts of open data;
• processing, analysing and visualising data;
• metadata, ontologies and semantic approaches;
• mapping and understanding territories with data;
• hardware and software tools to collect and share open data.
