Through a comprehensive review of prior academic and industry literature, this study investigated the adoption rates, economic benefits, and workforce impacts of open source AI, and examined its sector-specific impacts in healthcare, energy, agriculture, construction, and manufacturing.

Key insights include:

• Widespread AI adoption – 94% of organizations are already using AI tools.
• Open source advantage for smaller companies – Adoption is higher among smaller organizations, offering flexibility and cost savings.
• Cost efficiency – 66% of organizations report open source AI is more affordable than proprietary solutions.
• Sector-specific impacts – AI is expected to contribute $90–150B to construction and $40–70B to agriculture.
